Acoustic Enclosure for Gearbox
Engineered noise control solutions for gearboxs — designed, manufactured, and installed by ARK Noise Control (India)
Why Gearbox Noise Needs Control
Industrial gearboxes — particularly high-speed units in power generation and petrochemical plants — generate noise levels of 90-110 dB(A) from gear tooth meshing, bearing vibration, and oil churning. The noise is characterised by prominent tonal components at gear mesh frequency and its harmonics, which are subjectively more annoying and penetrating than broadband noise of equivalent level.

How ARK Solves Gearbox Noise
ARK provides custom acoustic enclosures for gearboxes optimised for the tonal, mid-to-high-frequency noise spectrum. Our designs use multi-layer panels tuned to attenuate the dominant gear mesh frequencies, with silenced ventilation to remove gearbox heat. For less severe cases or where full enclosure is impractical, NoiseLAG removable acoustic jackets can be fitted directly over the gearbox casing for up to 10 dB(A) reduction.
Key Benefits
- Noise reduction of 10 to 35 dB(A) for tonal gear mesh noise
- Panel absorption tuned to dominant gear mesh frequency and harmonics
- Silenced ventilation for gearbox cooling oil system heat rejection
- Split-type enclosure design for gearboxes with multiple shaft connections
- Compatible with NoiseLAG jackets for additional casing treatment
- Vibration-isolated mounting to prevent structure-borne noise paths
