Blow-Off Silencer
Engineered noise control solutions for blow-off valve / pressure reliefs — designed, manufactured, and installed by ARK Noise Control (India)
Why Blow-Off Valve / Pressure Relief Noise Needs Control
High-pressure blow-off events generate extreme noise levels of 110-140 dB(A) as compressed gas expands rapidly through valves and orifices to atmosphere. The noise is caused by supersonic jet mixing as the high-velocity gas stream interacts with ambient air. Blow-off events — whether intentional pressure relief or emergency venting — create instantaneous noise hazards for nearby workers and community noise complaints.

How ARK Solves Blow-Off Valve / Pressure Relief Noise
ARK blow-off silencers use multi-stage diffusion to progressively reduce gas velocity before it exits to atmosphere, eliminating the supersonic jet noise mechanism. The gas enters a series of perforated diffuser tubes that gradually expand the flow, followed by absorptive packing to attenuate residual broadband noise. Each silencer is engineered for the specific blow-off pressure, flow rate, and gas composition.
Key Benefits
- Noise reduction of 30 to 45 dB(A) for high-pressure blow-off events
- Multi-stage diffuser design eliminates supersonic jet noise
- Designed for intermittent high-flow blow-off duty cycles
- Low backpressure to ensure effective pressure relief
- Weather protection cap for outdoor installations
- Designed to ASME / PED pressure standards where required
