Why Start-up Vent / Warm-up Vent Noise Needs Control
During power plant and boiler start-up, warm-up, and load-change operations, large quantities of high-pressure, high-temperature steam are vented to atmosphere through start-up vents, warm-up vents, superheater and reheater drains. These venting events generate extreme noise levels of 110-140 dB(A) that can persist for hours during start-up sequences, creating severe occupational noise hazards and community noise disturbance.

Our silencers use multi-stage perforated diffusers with erosion-resistant stainless steel internals, followed by absorptive packing protected by perforated stainless steel liners. Each silencer is custom-designed for the specific venting conditions of the boiler/turbine system.
